Participants engage in a warm-up session and team assignments before delving into research fundamentals. Through teamwork, they explore the research process and brainstorm methods for studying various topics.
Ethics, Funding, and Team Formation
Teams are reshuffled for activities centered on ethical considerations and funding simulations. Discussions cover research ethics, funding mechanisms, and publication standards.
Deep Dive into Research Topics - STEM and Social Sciences
Teams are curated based on interests, focusing on STEM and Social Sciences tracks. Participants select research areas, develop questions, and design methodologies.
Further Exploration and Ethical Considerations
Research efforts continue with teams refining questions, addressing ethical concerns, and brainstorming data collection methods within their selected areas.
Project Sharing and Individual Reflection
Success stories in research projects are shared, followed by breakout sessions for critique and discussion. Participants reflect on feedback and prepare research papers and presentations.
Peer Review and Funding Simulation
Peer-review panels provide feedback on research papers, which is then incorporated into condensed presentations. A funding simulation exercise follows.
Project Presentations and Awards
Top research projects present to the cohort, receiving live feedback and engaging in open Q&A sessions. All projects are eligible for voting in various categories.

MAYA GOBERT
Founder & Director, Leadership & Innovation Lab
Maya Gobert is our Director of Student Innovation. She founded and runs the Leadership & Innovation Lab. Maya attended Cornell University on a full expenses paid scholarship where she double majored in Economics and Political Science and graduated with top honors. Maya has worked across three continents and industries – finance, marketing and educational consulting. Maya has led a team of consultants and worked personally with students across the world (more than 14 countries and counting!), mentoring them in candidacy building and extracurricular pursuits. Her students have gained admission into all the Ivy League colleges and many other Top 20 US universities.Â

AVI HEGLAND-FISHER
Senior LIL Instructor
Avi attended Colgate University, where she studied English, philosophy, and classics. She taught and tutored high school students while in law school at the University of Pennsylvania and was the recipient of an Exceptional Pro Bono Service Award, which is awarded to Penn Law students who complete over 200 hours of pro bono service. Avi also received a Certificate in Management from Wharton. After Penn, she was a teaching assistant, research assistant, and adjunct professor at American University. Avi is a researcher, writing consultant, and college essay coach who tutors students in English, humanities, writing, reading, high school admissions testing, SAT, ACT, LSAT, and AP courses.
