A Dynamic 5-Day Journey to Change & Lead

Led by Dustin Liu—a trailblazer in education, innovation, and design thinking, this dynamic, hands-on workshop helps you address the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in relevant ways. Meet Dustin Liu, a Taiwanese-American and proud New Yorker passionate about helping students thrive. As Senior Associate Director at NYU Stern’s Initiative on Purpose and Flourishing (IPF), he leads programs, builds partnerships, and helps students align their goals with a bigger purpose.

He’s taught design thinking at Stanford University, helping students tackle life’s big questions and create meaningful paths forward.

Dustin has also worked at top schools like Cornell, Harvard, MIT, and the University of Chicago, bringing together diverse ideas to inspire and empower students to think big.

The Leadership & Social Innovation Conference by NYU Stern is for high school students passionate about using business and leadership to create social change. Ideal for aspiring entrepreneurs and problem-solvers, this conference equips you with the skills to turn ideas into impactful solutions and become a change-driven leader.

All participants who attend the conference for all 5 days, will receive the following:
  1. Certificate of Participation from NYU Stern, signed by the mentor.
  2. Opportunity to get an LOR from the Mentor.
Participants collaborate in teams to develop innovative solutions for a global issue, applying leadership and entrepreneurial skills to create actionable strategies that drive real-world change and make a lasting impact.
On the last day of the program, students present their social innovation project in teams to an audience of 200 people. We invite students’ parents, school principals, counselors, the press, and a chief guest to be a part of this day.
The program will be conducted offline.
Unfortunately, we will be unable to share the recordings of the lectures, therefore we request all participants to attend all sessions.
Expect the program to be highly interactive and engaging. There are many group discussions, activities and competition. All the skill learning session & activities will keep the pace rapid so boredom won’t set in. We ensure a two-way interaction by providing enough time for questions, comments, and discussion. Breaks will be scheduled frequently so you can stretch, walk, talk, and grab a bite.

If you request to cancel 30 days before the program’s start date, a full refund will be issued. If you request to cancel 15 days before the program’s start date, you will receive a 50% refund. No refunds will be granted for cancellations requested within 15 days of the program’s start date. All refunds will be processed within 2 weeks following the conclusion of the program.
Workshop fees are to be paid in full upon receipt of the acceptance email. We accept various forms of payment including Check, Money Order, Visa, American Express, MasterCard, Direct Deposit, and Wire Transfer.
If you fail to inform us that you cannot attend the program, you will be charged the entire course fee. No certification will be provided.
In order to have a consortium of like minded people, this program is selection based,and the selection rate is 10%. We are looking for students from all backgrounds and experiences. Whether you’re an active leader in your school already or are looking to become a more confident student, you’re a great candidate to apply. Students are selected based on the quality of answers on the application form. We encourage you to share personal experiences and stories.

You need to fill the application form on the program page and fill the three questions. Upon submission of the form, you will receive an acceptance email in 5-7 business days.

This is a high in demand program, and we usually receive 2000 applications for 150 seats from around the world. For this reason, we are unable to send out rejection emails to applicants.

If you have missed the payment deadline, you can request an extension by calling us or emailing us at info@bigrededucation.com. Depending on the availability of seats, we will offer an extension.

Safety is our priority. All journeys and activities are fully supervised by our experienced teaching staff.

The Doon School is a gated community with 24-hour security, and nobody can leave or enter the school without permission of the school authorities.

As the course is all-inclusive, students will require pocket money only, ideally not more than around Rs 3,000 – Rs 5,000
The Doon School has comfortable boarding houses with modern facilities. Girls will be residing in one house and boys in a separate house. Both houses will be fully staffed by our experienced boarding housemasters. In the respective houses, rooms will be shared. All houses have common rooms with recreational facilities. All sports facilities, such as the swimming pool, futsal courts, tennis courts, basketball courts and squash courts, as well as fields/grounds for cricket, soccer and hockey are all within easy walking distance from the boarding houses. The Music School, Rose Bowl Amphitheatre, Library with internet access, Central Dining Hall, Art and Media Centre, BML Auditorium, IT Centre and Wellness Centre will be available for use. There is wi-fi internet access across the entire campus.
Students and/or their parents are requested to inform the school of any medical problems in advance, including allergies that they may have. If students have diabetes, allergies, asthma or any condition that may require specialised care, students are requested always to carry some identification (tag, bracelet or card) indicating the prescriptions required in case of an emergency. Each student will need a fitness certificate from a physician. The school requires this information in advance of the student’s arrival. The outdoor trips will be led by a team of staff from The Doon School who are very experienced in organizing activities of this nature across all age groups. The team will include first aiders and will always carry a comprehensive first aid kit. The care givers will all be carrying emergency numbers of the nearest hospitals and ambulance services.
Full laundry facilities are available at the school. Details of how the system works will be explained to all students on arrival.
The Doon School can provide for all known dietary requirements, either religious or medical. Before any group’s arrival we make sure that we receive any special dietary requirements for all students and teachers so that we can provide this information to our catering manager. If in doubt, please contact us directly with specifics of your needs.
The Doon School offers a modern and comfortable Central Dining Hall which serves a nutritious and varied menu of Indian, oriental and western cuisine. The menus are designed to meet the needs and palates of vegetarians and non-vegetarians, as well as anyone with special dietary requirements.
The Doon School’s Wellness Centre is a fully staffed and equipped medical centre and hospital with in-patient facilities at the very heart of the campus. It is staffed by a doctor, nurse and support staff, and has its own ambulance. Any serious problems are referred immediately to specialists in the city, as appropriate. The Max Super Specialty Hospital, a world class facility which can deal with all medical emergencies and conditions, is 9 km from the school and has state-of-the-art emergency ambulances. There are also plenty of other very good medical and dental facilities within minutes of the school in Dehradun, should they be required.
Yes, students are allowed to carry their mobile phones to the venue. However, they won’t be allowed to use their phones during the conference, i.e., between 9 am - 3 pm IST.
Yes, students are allowed to bring their laptops, iPods, or iPads to the venue.

Please do carry a guitar or any other portable musical instrument that you play; it will be very useful and welcome.
Average temperatures range between a low of 25ËšC to 35ËšC. Normally there is little or no rain. The Doon School campus, being essentially a botanical garden of rare and beautiful trees, is shaded and is always several degrees cooler than the city. Light clothing is recommended, although if there are rain showers, these can make nights a little cooler, so a sweatshirt or light second layer may be needed from time to time. A waterproof coat may come in handy. For camping, trekking shoes and a warm jacket will be required.
Carry a torch, basic medicines that you may use as and when required, mosquito repellent cream, a pair of sports shoes and floaters as well as regular slippers. Hair comb, sunscreen, nail clipper and clothes suitable as per the climate. It is summer in Dehradun, so a hat or cap is also needed. Dehradun is a city in which any necessity that has been forgotten can be purchased on arrival. An outdoor kit comprising a small rucksack and a sleeping bag will be required for the outdoor excursion.
