The Golden Ticket: Fast-Track to Deakin University's Final Scholarship Round

One outstanding participant of Turn Your Passion for Sport into a Real Career will have the opportunity to receive a Golden Ticket to the final interview round of Deakin University's Vice-Chancellor's Meritorious 100% Scholarship.

Typically, only the Top 20 candidates from over 1,000 applicants advance to the final stage after multiple rounds of evaluation. Through this opportunity, one outstanding participant may gain direct access to the final interview round.

Please note: The Golden Ticket provides access to the final interview round only and does not guarantee the scholarship award. Final selection remains subject to Deakin University's scholarship process and eligibility criteria.

For students aspiring to study abroad, this is a unique opportunity to combine sports industry exposure with a potential pathway to one of Deakin University's most prestigious scholarships.

Day 1: Industry Immersion - Real‑World Exposure at Centre for Sports Excellence (CSE)

  • Guided facility tour to understand sports infrastructure and operations
  • Rotational learning stations covering:
    • Event Operations and Management
    • Sport Science and Performance Analysis
    • Commercial and Media Functions
  • Insights from industry professionals through a careers panel discussion
  • Reflections on real-world learning
  • Experiential engagement through participation in sport activities

Day 2: Foundations - Understanding the Sport Industry

  • Overview of the global sport industry, including professional sport, events, and commercial ecosystems
  • Interactive activities exploring career pathways across the sport sector
  • Introduction to sport management concepts, including marketing and operations
  • Introduction to sport science disciplines, including performance, nutrition, and psychology
  • Experiential activities on athlete branding, marketing strategies using artificial intelligence, athlete testing and performance analysis
  • Reflection session to consolidate learning and identify potential career interests

Day 3: Application and Pathways - Future Planning

  • Student presentations on career insights gained during the program
  • Reflection on key learnings and evolving perspectives
  • Capstone group project applying knowledge through:
    • Sport Event Proposal (Sport Management focus)
    • Athlete Performance Plan (Sport Science focus)
  • Session on education pathways in sport
  • Development of a personal action plan for future goals
  • Program close, recognition, and feedback

This workshop is designed for students who are curious about careers in sports, whether you aspire to become a sports manager, analyst, or even an athlete looking to understand the industry better. It’s also ideal for anyone who wants to explore the world of sports beyond just playing and gain deeper insights into how the ecosystem works.

All participants who attend the workshop for all 3 days, will receive the following:

Certificate of Participation from Big Red Education & Deakin University, signed by the mentor.

On the final presentation day, students bring together everything they’ve learned and showcase their journey through presentations. They present a “Career I Discovered” reflection, share a sports event pitch or an athlete performance plan they’ve developed, and conclude with a personal action plan outlining their next steps in the world of sports.
The workshop will be conducted offline.
Unfortunately, we will be unable to share the recordings of the lectures, therefore we request all participants to attend all sessions.
Expect the workshop to be highly interactive and engaging. There are many group discussions, activities and competition. All the skill learning session & activities will keep the pace rapid so boredom won’t set in. We ensure a two-way interaction by providing enough time for questions, comments, and discussion. Breaks will be scheduled frequently so you can stretch, walk, talk, and grab a bite.

If you request to cancel 30 days before the workshop’s start date, a full refund will be issued. If you request to cancel 15 days before the workshop’s start date, you will receive a 50% refund. No refunds will be granted for cancellations requested within 15 days of the workshop’s start date. All refunds will be processed within 2 weeks following the conclusion of the workshop.
workshop fees are to be paid in full upon receipt of the acceptance email. We accept various forms of payment including Check, Money Order, Visa, American Express, MasterCard, Direct Deposit, and Wire Transfer.
If you fail to inform us that you cannot attend the workshop, you will be charged the entire course fee. No certification will be provided.
